\nEl Valle Lodge is a jungle and sea eco hotel located in the Samana peninsula of the Dominican Republic. Away from all inclusive resorts in the caribbean, this virgin beach spot focuses on sustainable development emphasizing natural attributes and the surrounding\u2019s characteristics in the accommodations. It presents a unique way to experience and interact with the environment since construction principles, materials and design make the lodge fuse with nature, following sustainable development guidelines.<\/span>

\nEl Valle Lodge authentically responds to ecotourism guidelines as proposed by TIES (the international ecotourism society). As an environmentally responsible project, they look to actively encourage mindful respect for the planet and local culture, promoting holistic wellbeing and low impact practices to drive carbon negative operations.<\/span><\/p>\n

Architecture<\/span>
\nJoined by CO2OL Design and a team of regeneration, conservation and permaculture experts, the hotel was envisioned considering natural landscaping, sun and wind currents along with local materials and reclaimed wood.<\/span><\/p>\n

Waste treatment<\/a><\/span>
\nA filter and disintegration system was designed for black and grey water treatment using rocks, sand and carbon. Organic by product is either composted or fed to animals in neighbouring farms. We discourage the use of plastic water bottles and avoid selling them at the establishment. Guests have unlimited access to mineral water and reusable bottles.<\/span><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

General policies<\/span>
\nBath amenities are organic and come in biodegradable packaging.<\/span>
\nGitana restaurant privileges the use of local ingredients provided by the community, from farm (or sea) to table.<\/span>
\nNight lighting is minimally invasive for the ecosystem and endemic species.<\/span><\/p>\n

Energy<\/span>
\nSourced 90% from a local hydroelectric plant. All lighting is LED.<\/span><\/p>\n

Community<\/span>
