 Nudism or naturism isn’t widely practiced in the Dominican Republic compared to some other destinations. However, there are a few secluded beaches and resorts where clothing-optional or nude-friendly policies are practiced.

There is a wide array of less touristy spots where you can find a comfortable spot to be topless.

 As far as beaches go, these are our recommendations where you can find yourself practically alone and free as a bird:

 . El valle beach in samana. Due to the secluded nature of this gem beach, located within a lush jungle valley that only the more in-the-know travelers access, it’s a place where you can normally find yourself alone.

The right end cove of the beach separated by some big rocks is the most private area, not visible from the rest of the beach. Plus, this destination is popular among an international crowd that will not be alarmed if they see you in your birthday suit. The pleasure of being free in such a wildly exotic surrounding is truly amazing.

 . Colorada in Las Galeras. This beach is so off the beaten path it’s unusual to see other people there, especially during the week. You have to walk the final stretch to get there which deters the crowds. A postcard perfect caribbean beach of white sandy shores and turquoise warm waters awaits adventurous visitors.

 . Bahia de las aguilas in Pedernales. Located in southwestern corner of the island near the Haiti frontier, this nation park and protected area is a science fiction landscape of desert backdrop against brilliant turquoise waters.

More than 3 kms of coastline make for an ample roaming ground to find oneself in solitude and able to undress freely.

 There are also some private resorts that cater to nudist clientele, often located in more remote areas or on private islands. These resorts offer a secluded and comfortable environment for those who enjoy naturism.

Such is new Cambium in the north coast near Gaspar Hernandez, a closed community offering airbnb rentals with a 100% naturist philosophy.

 So even though there is not a marked beach specifically nudist, it is possible to find spots private enough to do so. Always be mindful of local idiosyncrasy and respect the locals!
